Router upgrade in Morton

Postby forhire » Wed Jun 30, 2004 12:16 pm

We just switched out our core router for the new larger router. The updated interface solved the packet loss issues we experienced last week. The WCCCP caching redirection is currently not working due to the IOS version we are running. We will be running on the new router for a few hours to see how it handles our load.

WCCP doesn't work with route-caching enabled. Entered "no ip route-cache" into the router and now WCCP is working as it normally should. We will be monitoring the router throughout the day to insure it is working properly. So far so good.

Argh! The router CPU usage went through the roof. Turned off wccp at around 3:00 pm. After consulting the archieve this appears to be a know issue with this version of the ios. Now using "ip cef" and "no ip route-cache cef" on eth0. During testing customers may have noticed slowness of http traffic. At present the cpu has leveled out at about 35% which is normal. So far so good!
