SERVICE NOTICE: Planned upgrades for 1/5/2006

We will be performing a number of upgrades the morning of Thurday, January 5th, 2006 between 5:00 AM and 7:00 AM PST. During this maintenance window service may be interrupted for a few minutes at a time.

At 5:00 AM we will be installing additional ports into our core router. This will allow us to upgrade our wireless service and add some addition direct links. This upgrade will result few minor interruptions whie we move circuits. I expect this to be done by 5:10 AM.

At 6:00 AM we will start moving all our DSL customers to a bigger pipe. This will cause the DSL service to be interrupted during this move. I expect the change will take about 20 to 30 minutes. No other services will be affected during the DSL upgrade.

I have added the new ports to the core router and completed the required reboot without any issues. I am now monotoring stability of the new hardware and preparing for the DSL cut over which will happen around 6:00 AM.

The telco has missed their promised cut-over time. I left a message with my rep. I'm not sure why they failed to call.
