Mail delay due to high volume of spam

Starting at around 3:00 AM this morning the spamscanner started having issues. Originally I assumed it was caused by a nightly cleanup routing. I currently have the smtp connections throttled and things are slowly returning to normal. At present the scanner still has about 1500 messages pending processing and delivery. Things should be flowing smoothly again in a hour or two.

I think we finally have the issue under control. It appears one of our DNS servers was delaying responses to the filter. Mail should be flowing again this morning.
