Keyboard doesn't work in WinXP with Asus A7V8X-X motherboard

Puzzle of the day...

Keyboard works in safe mode, it works in linux, but the second I hit even one key in normal mode the mouse and keyboard lockup.

At first I thought it was the anti-virus... because we had just done a repair install of WinXP. So I uninstalled the anti-virus. No joy.

Then I scanned the hard drive for viruses and root kits. It was clean.

After a few more hours of searching I kept finding posts about it being a bios issue. Could it be? So I updated the bios to the latest 1013. Still didn't work.

Nearly defeated I found this page:
http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mjm-a7v8xx-acpi.html

In the bios section it lists:
* 1010 - Linux S3 Fails (last tested: before FC4)
* 1011 - Linux S3 Works - Currently Using
* 1012 - Windows 2000 SP4 Keyboard fails to activate at times
* 1013 - Windows XP SP2 Keyboard fails to activate at times

I started with 1007 and had tried 1013 and 1014.002 (beta). So I rolled the bios back to version 1011 and it WORKS!

For the record 1011 worked for me :)
