Linux rescue disk

Postby forhire » Wed Oct 06, 2004 11:14 pm

I downloaded "System Rescue CD-Rom" (http://www.sysresccd.ord) and have used this little resue CD a few times this week. Darn handy. I've used a number of similar products but this one so far is a keeper.

It comes with:
* GNU Parted is the best tool for editing your disk partitions under linux
* QtParted is a Partition Magic clone for Linux.
* Partimage is a Ghost/Drive-image clone for Linux
* File systems tools (e2fsprogs, reiserfsprogs, xfsprogs, jfsutils, ntfsprogs, dosfstools): they allow you to format, resize, debug an existing partition of your hard disk
* Sfdisk allows you to backup and restore your partition table

QtParted works as advertised. I haven't figured out how to use Partimage to clone a full drive but for backing up partitions it's suppose to be real good. If anyone knows how I'd be interested. I've mainly used it to mount and copy files. It has a whole lot more:
