Two great programs for burning DVD in windows
DVD Shrink for compressing a video DVD to fit on a standard DVD-R. Not open source but it is free and a great program.
DVD Decrypter for burning/ripping to disk. Uncrippled shareware.

Together these are powerful software and completely negate the need for high footprint stuff like Nero.

hmmm Can't seem to turn html or bbcodes on -

RIPit4Me is a great tool to use in conjunction with DVD Decryper and DVD Shrink. The program is fully automated and the wizard will guide you through all the necessary steps involved. It also uses FixVTS allow you to backup just about any DVD you want. I use it to backup my son's DVD's so that we don't ruin the originals when he takes them in the car.
